Winter is one of my favorite times to travel. Some of my most memorable trips have been in snow: snowshoeing among steaming mud pots at Yellowstone National Park; dog sledding in Wisconsin; snowmobiling through remote Alaska wilderness at sunset to get a view of alpenglow on Mount Denali; and of course, waking up at 3 a.m. in Fairbanks to watch the northern lights spread across the night sky.
There is so much to do in northern climes during the winter months. If you like to get outside and play, we have some great ideas for you. Bing Travel’s new slide show, Cool Winter Destinations, highlight 14 places around the world that really know how to celebrate winter. From dog sledding to bobsledding or staying overnight in an igloo, you’ll find plenty of activities and sights to fuel your next vacation.
