“The mountains are calling and I must go,” said famed naturalist John Muir. He lived his life in the wilderness, but today’s travelers still feel the pull of the majesty of those peaks and pinnacles. Whether we witness snowcapped mountains from the window of our airplane, from a hotel room window or from a hiking trail on the mountains themselves, their draw is undeniable.
Many peaks are so distinctive that we know them by sight: the perfect cone of Mount Fuji, the pyramid of the Matterhorn, the soaring heights of Everest. But many others are equally beautiful and deserve our attention – and a visit. Bing Travel’s new slide show, The World’s Most Beautiful Mountains, is a collection of our favorite 20 peaks from Tibet to Peru and beyond.
