Blog Post: 17 national park lodges

Here at Bing Travel editorial headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, we’re a bit spoiled. We are within a day’s drive of three national parks: Mt. Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park and Olympic National Park.

I’ve been lucky enough to stay at Paradise Lodge at Mt. Rainier, where you can walk directly from your rustic room to alpine hiking trails filled with purple lupine and red paintbrush, where fat rodents called marmots whistle to each other to warn of an approaching red fox. I’ve also stayed at Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park, where you can stroll from your cabin to a sparkling emerald-blue lake and jump into its refreshing glacial-fed waters. This weekend, I’ll take a 2.5-hour boat ride on the “Lady Express” from Chelan to Stehekin and pay a quick visit to Stehekin Landing Resort in North Cascades National Park. It’s a great base of operations for hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding or simply grabbing a sweet treat at the Stehekin Pastry Company.

The United States has enough national park lodges to fill a travel guidebook. Our new slide show, 17 National Park Lodges, does not attempt to cover them all. But we’re hoping it offers you a delicious taste of the banquet available from Hawaii to Virginia.

What’s your favorite national park lodge? Why do you like it? Share your thoughts with other travelers below.
