iTunes could get cloud-based backup solution
Late last year I predicted 2011 would be the year of the cloud for Apple, and so far I've been right. I said OS X Lion would be sold via the App Store, and it certainly will. Here's the other part of Apple's cloud strategy: the company is reportedly looking to use the cloud for iTunes, not as a streaming service, but as "insurance," a sort of backup system for the music you already own and have downloaded to your own computer. Specifics are vague; it's not clear how much this would cost or exactly how this would work, and obviously Apple is keeping it all under wraps until it's ready to announce the service completely.
The signs are there: MobileMe is reportedly going online-only, the North Carolina data center is about to come online, and Apple seems primed to introduce a service which would connect your media (and possibly even your contacts and other downloads) across all of your iOS and Mac devices, accessible from any device wherever you happen to have it. I'd bet such a service will be online by the end of this year. We'll have to see what comes of this, but we certainly seem closer than ever to Apple introducing some connection to the cloud in iTunes.

Ubuntu 11.04 Unity keyboard shortcuts have a distinct Windows 7 flavor
- The super key, which typically refers to the Windows key on most standard keyboards, invokes the Unity Launcher -- on Windows, this would call up the Start Menu
- Super + 1/2/3, etc. launches the app in that position on the Unity dockbar -- much like the Windows 7 feature
- Super + D minimizes and restores all windows -- a hotkey combo in Windows since XP
With WUBI making it so easy to install and dual-boot Ubuntu from within Windows and an easy profile data import tool offered during setup, Canonical is doing its best to entice defectors.

SendGenie offers simple drag and drop file sharing for Windows and Mac
SendGenie is a slick new app (currently in open beta testing) which makes sharing files and photos as easy as dragging and dropping. Once installed, SendGenie adds a dropzone widget to your desktop which you can hide and unhide via the system tray icon. When you want to zap a file to a friend, just drag it onto the dropzone (yes, the wizard hat that you see above). Your file will be added to a send queue, and you can then choose the people you want to send the file (or files) to.
SendGenie also supports contact groups, so you can build a list for your department at work, your family, or your clan mates for easy mass sharing. You can also send clipboard contents -- like screenshots -- by tapping the Paste button in the main window and naming your clip. Once uploaded, your contacts will receive an email with a link to a page from where they can download your files. Friends running SendGenie on their desktop can choose to automatically receive files you send -- they'll appear in Documents\Me SendGenie\Your Email Address\Inbox\.

Banshee media player for Windows goes alpha
Like any good media player, Banshee offers features like smart playlist, podcast, audiobook, and online radio support, ID3 tag editing, song ratings, track information lookup, full screen mode, system tray playback controls, and toast notifications.
Unfortunately, it's still rather rough around the edges. Banshee's Last.fm features and equalizer caused numerous crashes, and the app eventually quit trying to play tracks after a handful of restarts. Rebooting Windows was the only way to get Banshee playing again.
Still, this is just the first alpha release! We're sure that things will improve quickly with future builds.

Mozilla F1 adds bit.ly account support, improves security
F1 also now offers better security out-of-the-box by storing OAuth information in the browser. Autocomplete has also been improved, and Linux users should now be able to utilize the dropdowns in F1 -- which is kind of important if you want to post to a group Facebook wall or send a direct message on Twitter.

The first is that China is going to get much more aggressive about food inflation -- not necessarily about price controls, which don't work, but through more subsidies to farmers in order to expand supply. A more serious crackdown on property prices, possibly leading to a sharp drop in some places. More hikes in the minimum wage are probably coming as well.
Outside of the price sphere, things like food safety and more stable pensions will also be a priority.
